Throughout the course of our second year in the Pegasus Galaxy, Teyla has continued to show our team an unrivalled level of loyalty, and once again we are in her debt. Her unique perspective on life in this place, coupled with a voice of reason that belies her youth, has constantly provided me with valuable information and valued opinions that I would not otherwise have available to me. Through Teyla, we have experienced some of the best things about this galaxy—people and places that her local knowledge alone has allowed us to find.
Her loyalty has, this year, occasionally been at the expense of her own better judgement. This has particularly been the case with regards to our dealings with the Wraith over the past few months. Teyla, of all of us, understands what it means to live in fear of the Wraith, and her sensibilities on the subject have been pushed to the limit by events. Despite her misgivings about using the retrovirus, she has been able to put aside her personal feelings and assist us with what we have most needed.
Teyla has also been able to help with the integration of Atlantis’ most recently-arrived resident, Ronon Dex. I must confess that at first, when Sheppard voiced his desire to add Ronon to his regular mission team, I was more than dubious. My own encounters with him have been, to date, very brief and somewhat uncomfortable. Teyla, however, has taken Ronon under her wing, and as a result I have seen him become more and more a part of our community her in Atlantis. On Earth, she would make an excellent teacher or diplomat—here in Atlantis, she is an invaluable member of our team.
